Rev. Bruce J. Hoffman, son of a Reformed Church minister, was born in
Sodus, N.Y. in 1939. His elementary years were lived in Cicero
(Chicago suburb) Illinois before moving to western New York State in
1952. He graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan in 1961 and
married Joanne Ten Haken in August of that same year. He graduated
from Western Theological Seminary in Holland in 1964. Upon graduation
from seminary, he served The Trinity Reformed Church in Schenectady,
New York for six years during which time two daughters were born to
Bruce and Joanne. In June, 1970, Pastor Hoffman began his long
pastorate (32.5 years) at Second Reformed (now Abundant Life Reformed)
Church in Wyckoff, New Jersey. After leaving the Wyckoff pastorate at
the close of 2002, the Hoffmans moved to Flemington, New Jersey where
they currently reside. In recent years, Mr. Hoffman has continued his
ministerial career with full-time interim pastorates at Ponds Reformed
in Oakland (16 mos.) and Clinton Ave. Reformed in Bergenfield, (20
mos.). He pulpit supplied at Fairfield Reformed for 6 mos and then did
a part-time 15 month interim (concluded last March) at First Reformed church
of Lincoln Park.
