Reformed Church in Kinnelon Announces
Sermon Series on Christian Parenting
The Reformed Church in Kinnelon (RCK) will provide a five-week sermon series on Christian Parenting throughout the month of October, starting with Sunday, October 2.
“Parenting is today’s culture is a tremendous challenge,” states Rev. Beverly Sullivant, Pastor of the Reformed Church in Kinnelon, adding, “There are some great Christian principles that make the challenges easier to face. These principles are found in scripture passages 1 Peter 2 and John 13, which will be used as the basis for the sermons.”
Subjects addressed in the series include: Grow in Your Faith; Make a Spiritual Home; Actions More Than Words; Forgive as You Have Been Forgiven; and Love One Another. Each sermon will be preached during the regular Sunday morning worship, which begins at 10:00 a.m. The church is located at 155 Kinnelon Road, Kinnelon. Sunday School and loving childcare are provided to children of all ages during the worship time.
“The way we see it at the RCK,” comments Sullivant, “families in this area are trying to give their children the best of everything—the best schools, the best athletic opportunities, the best enrichment, etc.

“In the Kinnelon area, parents are also provided with a wealth of religious training and support for great parenting at the several Christian and Jewish congregations here,” Sullivant continues. “This sermon series is just one of the many options we offer at RCK. We also have classrooms and curricula that are designed to inspire the mind and the heart of younger kids through story, music, crafts, play. For older students, the classroom experience includes discussion of issues faced by God’s people, then and now, drawing on the Biblical story as well as insights from current events, the media and personal situations.
“We are especially excited about our curriculum for young children, ages 4-7 years old,” adds Sullivant. “The Children and Worship program, presented in a specially-designed worship space, provides the opportunity for children to experience God through story-telling, multi-sensory materials, and a ‘I Wonder’ questioning format that engages the interest, curiosity and memory young children in a unique way.”
